This week we are wrapping up Jon’s thesis film “Ojalá” on which I was first AC. The production employed an Arri Alexa with Ultra Primes.

Today the first AFI Thesis film shooting day I was crewing on. I was first for Jon Boal! We used the ARRI Alexa with Ultra Primes, shooting logc 444 onto the sxs cards.

Petrs MOS day two started dark and early. We were out in the desert near Palm Springs shooting the rising sun and a shootout, surrounded by windmills. 5213 w 85.

Stock testing at AFI

Today I tested the 5207 and 5212 with King and Dan for my thesis film. (machsomfilm.com) We used a 3-perf Panavision Platinum.

Daniel Pearl, ASC visits

Today our guest professor (at the AFI) was Daniel Pearl, ASC. He did different lighting workshops and talked about the profession.

Deluxe grant

MACHSOM, the Thesis film I am shooting in march has received the Deluxe grant! Deluxe has generously donated the film grant to the AFI Conservatory/MACHSOM and will cover all of the following production and post-production items at no charge. All HD Dailies and HD DI services will be completed at Deluxe’s Hollywood Way facility. Audio Laybacks will be provided by Chase Audio by Deluxe and Film out services will be provided by Cinetech.

HD Telecine: 20,000’ 35mm 3 perf or equivalent (stock provided)
On-Line Assembly
Color Correction
Post-Production Sound Package to include: Sound Design/ADR and Foley, Recording/Sound Mix/Sound Deliverables

Laser Film Recording: Includes negative, lab processing and one composite print
